We provide women who have been in prison hope, healing and reconciliation with God, family and community.
Every week women are released into our communities from Lancaster County Prison. Many are not prepared to meet the innumerable challenges facing them. They are at a high risk to adopt, or return to, negative behaviors that could lead them back into a cycle of prison, addiction, and abuse. Unless these women receive the support, encouragement and nurture provided by a safe, structured environment, they face a bleak future and an increased risk of returning to prison.
B.I.R.D. Ministries ministers to women who have been in prison , helping them rebuild their lives and overcome the cycle of prison, addiction and abuse that has devastated their lives and families. Working closely with women during incarceration at Lancaster County Prison we provide pre-release education, counseling and support to give them opportunity to develop positive life skills and to gain knowledge and understanding of the services available to assist them when they are released. Upon release, our After Care Support offers case management services and referrals for services through a network of resources-from social service agencies to faith-based ministries and churches. Services include housing assistance, employment counseling, transportation, continuing education, drug and alcohol treatment and counseling.
B.I.R.D. Ministries is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization governed by a board of directors. All contributions are tax-deductible.
